Broxburn Athletic 4  Hill of Beath 0

Prior to kick off the club made a presentation to Goalkeeper Connor Wallace to mark his 150 start for Broxburn Athletic . In that time he has had 32 shut outs . He was pleased to mark the occasion with another shut out .

The visitors were first to create a chance that was turned for a corner in the first minute which came to nothing . At the other end two minutes later a ball over the top saw Ross Allum through on goal but his lob over the keeper went over the bar also . The opener did come a minute later when pressure on the visitors paid off when the ball landed at GREG BINNIE’s feet 12 yards out he fired home under pressure from the defence . On 12 minutes a free kick went over the Hawthorns defence and Cammie Ross got his head to it just before the keeper got there but it went wide left . The home side doubled their lead when a ball over the defence again trying to play offside , was met by JACKSON BARKER who made no mistake and took his opportunity . Half way through the half Cammie Ross made a good run down the left but his cross into the box was a shade to hi for Binnie in the box . Daniel Watt was through into the box but Jordan Wright shepherded him and eventually got the ball hitting it off the big forward for a throw in to Broxburn .A bit of melee erupted on 36 min without much fuss  referee Rhys Struthers  defused the situation booking two player’s from each side . Hill of Beath’s troubles got worse as the half ended with substitute Johnathan Galloway was substituted after 38 mins having been on the park only 19 minutes  . Then  four minutes later Daniel Watt saw red picking up a second yellow for a poor challenge . The last action of the half saw a Barker shot from the left go out for a throw on the right hand side .

Into the second half, with the visitors having a mountain to climb they won a free kick just outside the penalty box to the right. Wilkie took the click but Ross headed strongly clear for the Brox.

In 55 minutes a nicely floated cross from the left from Hutchison had Wilson scrambling in the visitors goal as he tried to punch unconvincingly clear and needed his fellow defenders to complete the clearance.

Moments later a Ross cross found Allum whose volley went across the goal and cleared by the visitors defence.

Slack play from Broxburn in the midfield area saw the ball given away twice forcing Harrison into evasive to stop Quinn. From the free kick Luke fired over the bar.

Broxburn went close in 59 minutes from a great move starting with a ball from Wright, Binnie flicked the ball on with his head, Barker then neatly cut the ball back to Allum who fired just wide.

On the hour with Broxburn in control the third goal duly arrived Binnie again at the heart of it playing a great ball to Cowley whose cross was volleyed into the corner of the net by ALLUM.

Allum fashioned another shooting chance for himself in 63 minutes this time striking with his left foot but off target.

More good play between Barker and Nicol saw the latter crack a shot into the side netting.

In 66 minutes Binnie was fouled about 30 yards out, whilst he was receiving treatment Hill of Beath made 2 changes Kinninmonth and Adamson replacing Luke and Connolly.

From the free kick Ross’s cross was met by Wright whose header looped over the bar.

Ross was replaced by Tait.

In 70 minutes a slight scare for the Brox with Hutchison trying to shepherd the ball back to Wallace, Adamson tried to nip in and finish but the ball stuck between the keepers legs.

3 minutes later the home side made changes Hutchison and Binnie off Newall and Ireland on.

Wright moved forward with the ball with his pass finding Tait but shot well off target.

In 81 minutes Beesley replaced Cowley.

A Wright slip almost caused a chance to come the visitors way but was scrambled out for a corner. Adamson took the kick but Wright won the ball commandingly in the air and cleared effectively.

In 85 minutes Broxburn capped an excellent team performance with a great move down the right, the cross found its way to ALLUM at the back post who hit his shot strongly into the right hand corner of the net.

In the following minute Tait was booked. From the resultant free kick Wilkie crossed with Fleming getting in a header but his effort went over the cross bar.

The Brox threatened once more in injury time a Newall cross was won by Barker but his effort went just wide.

Another 3 points from a rampant Brox moving them up to 3rd in the league table. Great to see a first home clean sheet of the season on keeper Wallace’s 150th appearance for the club. Next up is another home game once again against a Fife team in the shape of Crossgates Primrose. A chance to avenge the 4-5 loss in their last meeting.
