BROXBURN ATH V TYNECASTLE

Broxburn Athletic progressed to the next round of the William Hill Scottish Cup after a 2-0 win at home to Tynecastle . Broxburn sealed the win with two first half goals from Conor Kelly and Alexander Miller  Tynecastle came into the game in the second half but to no avail with Broxburn creating the better chances .An away tie to Girvan in three weeks after they beat St Cuthberts away from home 7-1 today will be a tough tie to get through to the first round proper .

WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP

Less than 48 hours to go before we play Tynecastle in the first prelim round of the William Hill Scottish cup . The players have put in a good week of training in preparation for the match and are looking forward to our adventure with the prospect of a good run and hopefully getting to the stages where we will be drawn against the bigger league teams . In the meantime we have to make sure we are well prepared and ready for the whistle at 3-00pm and personally I can not wait . Tynecastle will be up for it as well and any slackness will be taken advantage off by either side . We will not be treating this tie lightly despite what others may say or think Tynecastle are more than capable of a win .Let’s hope we play to our full potential and can get the result that sees us progress .

BROXBURN ATHLETIC 20’S UPDATE

Our under 20’s took on Tynecastle 20’s on Wednesday evening and lost 3-1 .Most of the visitors played in the successful 17’s side last season that swept the board with trophies including the Scottish cup .Still a few players short and are looking to add to the squad before the Lowland Development league please see advert below

ALAN KERR’S FUNERAL ARRANGEMENT

I am sure all would have heard the sad news that Alan Kerr a life long supporter of the club past away at the beginning of last week. His  funeral will be held on Tuesday the 13th of August at 2pm at West Lothian Crematorium .There after , all are welcome to join the family at Albyn Park ,Broxburn Athletic Football Club , for refreshments and snacks .

KEYDRAW RESULT

This week’s keydraw was won by Sandra Hegie c/o The Buchan Arms who won £50 but failed to pick the right key to open the jackpot box . Next week’s draw on Sunday the 11th of August will have a jackpot of £700 and 13 keys left to pick from to open the jackpot box .

CAMELON V BROXBURN ATHLETIC

A share of the spoils today at Camelon was about right . The first half finished blank but Camelon scored in the first minute of the second through Jordan Herron before Nicholas Locke got a leveller which was immediately countered with a second for the hosts through David Morrison . The equaliser was top drawer from Craig Scott who fired into the roof of the net from 40 yards out . (full report under matches on website )

UNDER 20’S PROGRESS

The under 20’s notched up their  first win despite again being short of numbers . With the majority of the players back in the next couple of week’s it was  good to see them come back from a 2 goal deficit to win 3-2 . A morale boost no doubt with the win coming over a experienced Dunipace side .Their next friendly in the build up to the season which starts at the end of the month  is on Wednesday the 7th of August against Tynecastle with a 8pm kick off at the Albyn Park ..

UNDER 20’s

The under 20’s took on a experienced Pumpherston junior side and all though they lost 5-3 was a lot of positives that the fledgling team can take from these games as they build a squad to compete in the Development league .They will be playing again on Friday night at the Albyn Park 2nd of August with a 7-45pm kick off .

CROSSGATES V BROXBURN ATH

A welcome three points with a good performance over a good Crossgates side . Goals from Beesley (2) ,Donaldson and Kelly set up a good win before two very late goals took the shine of the result with their goals coming from Lewis Crosbie and Lewis Sawers with Crosbie accidently clashing with Connor Wallace as he slid the ball under the advancing keeper  and received a bad injury for which he went after the game to get checked out at hospital . We hope his injury is not as bad as it looks and he makes a speedy recovery .
