CUP DATES AND DRAWS

Early cup draws have been made and scheduled into the fixture calendar. The Car Mat Kings South Region Challenge cup first and second rounds were made and we have been drawn away in the first round to Ardrossan Witton Wanderers on Saturday the 17th of August with a 2.00pm kick off .  The winners will have a away trip to Nithsdale Wanderers in the second round with a 2.00pm kick off .

The East of Scotland Qualifying cup has seen us drawn at home to Blackburn United . This tie will be played on Tuesday the 30th July with a 7.45pm kick off

KEYDRAW RESULT

This week’s keydraw was won by John Cunningham c/o The Badgers  John picked up £50 as Kieron Moyles who helped with the draw  failed to pick the key to open the Jackpot box . Next week’s draw will have a jackpot of £350 with 20 keys to pick from to open the jackpot box . Next week’s draw will be on Tuesday the 24th of July at 7.30pm live on our facebook page . SEASON TICKET SALES/PICK UP

Season tickets will be on sale at the Albyn park on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm until 8.30pm. Also this Saturday 6th of July from 10am till 12-00 . Season tickets are £150 for Adults and £80 concessions(over 65) . Under 16’s will again this season be allowed free admission to our games but they must pick up a season ticket which is free on sales nights

MATCH UPDATES

Another good warm up match for the season ahead against second division Stirling Albion  with a final minute equaliser from Jack Sayer’s earning a draw in a competitive match that did both teams good . (Report Below) . On Wednesday we take on Edinburgh City  at the Albyn park in another testing match as we build up for the challenge of the Lowland league .

Our second pre-season fixture was played on Saturday afternoon at Albyn Park.  

Today’s opponent Stirling Albion, were relegated last season  from League 1 via the playoffs. They lost 2-1 on aggregate to Dumbarton over two legs and now will compete in Division 2. The club recently appointed ex-Hearts and Hibernian full back Alan Maybury as their new manager. The club play their home games at Forthbank stadium & play in all red.

It was great to be back at Albyn Park. A good support welcome both teams as they emerge from the tunnel, on a breezy, but warm day in Broxburn.  

Broxburn are first to threaten on 8 minutes. Captain Nick Locke’s shot on the volley is saved by Stirling Albion keeper Derek Gaston.  

GOAL! Stirling Albion take the lead. Broxburn defender Greg Page gives away a free kick just outside the box. Up steps Stirling midfielder Dale Hilson whose low powerful free kick nestles into the left corner leaving the Broxburn trialist keeper no chance.

Stirling Albion have another chance on 18 minutes. A half volley by their 15, is headed over by the Broxburn Athletic trialist (5)  

On 23 minutes, Broxburn Athletic midfielder Alassan Jones goes down under the challenge, but the referee waves play on.  On 32 minutes, Nick Locke’s shot is blocked, and the rebound comes down to Alassan Jones who gets no power in the shot and is easily collected by Stirling Albion keeper Gaston.  

Stirling Albion have a huge chance to make it 2-0 on 41 minutes. Dale Carrick gets away from the Broxburn trialist (5) and shoots over the bar from close range.  On 44 minutes, Stirling Albion’s Thomas Reilly gets on to a loose pass and his shot is saved by the Broxburn trialist keeper.

On 50 minutes, the Broxburn trialist (2) delivers a good cross into the box and is headed clear by Stirling Albion’s trialist defender. On 54 minutes, Stirling Albion midfielder Callum Crane’s shot is saved by the Broxburn trialist keeper.  

On 56 minutes, a good ball into the area by Broxburn trialist (3) is headed wide by trialist (5).

Right after the goal hits the net, the referee blows for full time. It was a game of two halves, Stirling had a lot of the ball in the first half and Broxburn came into the game in the second period. A good exercise fore Broxburn as all the trialists got game time. Good result against good opposition!

Match Updates

A good performance in our first preseason game at Livingston saw us loose 2-1 with Gary Brass getting our goal just before half time to equalise . This was a good exercise and the team did very well see report below  . Saturday 30th June sees us at home to Stirling Albion  with a 2-30pm kick off in our second warm up match . Admission is £5 for Adults and £3 for concessions .

On Tuesday night, we travelled the short journey to Livingston, for our first pre-season friendly of the 2024/25 season.

Today’s opponent Livingston Fc were relegated last term from the Scottish Premier Division. The West Lothian club however boasted a good cup record in season 23/24, reaching the Quarter Finals of the League Cup and Scottish Cup. The Club is managed by ex-Broxburn assistant manager David Martindale. Last Saturday in Livingstons first pre-season match, they defeated Alloa Athletic at home 2-1, with goals from Matthew Clark & Stephen Kelly.

Livingston Fc are in all Yellow and start with a 4-3-3 formation. Broxburn Athletic are in their traditional kits. Red and White shirts, white shorts and, socks and start with a 4-4-2 formation. The teams emerge to a good atmosphere with both sets of supporters in fine voice.

In the 4th minute, Callum Heath wins Broxburn a corner. The inviting corner from the left is headed clear by the Livingston trialist. Gary Brass is free on the left and his cross is scrambled away by the Livingston trialist (5)

Livingston create their first chance of the match on 10 minutes. A good cut back from the trialist midfielder finds Stepen Kelly, who fires his shot over and into the stand. On 12 minutes, Livingston threaten again. A good one-two with Lawal and Clarke down the left lets in Clarke whose effort is cleared from a corner by the Broxburn trialist defender. The resulting corner taken by the Livingston trialist (6) finds Finlayson who heads over the bar.

On 15 minutes, there is a nervy moment for the Broxburn trialist keeper. He is pressed by the Livingston number 16, but the keeper takes no chances and puts it into the stand for a throw in. Good play by Livingston again on 17 minutes. Matthew Clarke gets by Marky Munro and his chipped ball into the box that finds the head of Scott Pitman who heads over. We have a stoppage in play for a head knock between Page & the Livingston number 16, but fortunately both players were able to continue. On 18 minutes, a shot by the Livingston number 20 is right at the trialist Broxburn keeper.

On 24 minutes, A good delivery by Callum Heath finds Greg Page, whose header is saved by the Livingston keeper.

GOAL! Livingston take the lead. A great finish by the Trialist (16). He picks up on the left, turns and blasts it into the top right corner.

On 34 minutes, a good teasing ball in by Matthew Clark is punched clear by the trialist Broxburn keeper. On 36 minutes, Livingston’s Matthew Clark plays a good 1-2 with the trialist (2) before firing a good cross ball to the trialist (12) whose cross deflected for a Livingston corner. The resulting corner taken by Stephen Kelly is headed over by trialist (16).

First booking comes on 37 minutes for the Broxburn trialist (3).

On 39 minutes, Lewis Turner gives away a free kick right on the D. Livingston trialist (12) takes it and it hits of the head of his own player and is out for a Broxburn goal kick. On 43 minutes, a low Steve Pittman cross is easily caught by the Broxburn trialist keeper.

GOAL! Broxburn score an equaliser, right on 45 minutes. A good delivery by Callum Heath finds Gary Brass whose effort finds the left corner.

NEWS UPDATE FOR UPCOMING EVENTS

With the celebrations of last season’s league win banked we now prepare for the new season in the challenging Lowland League . We have lined up a programme of testing warm up matches for the new season  . We start off with a friendly at Livingston Stadium against Livingston Football Club  with a 7.45pm kick off on Tuesday the 25th of June . Tickets priced at £5 for all categories are available on Livingston’s Fanbase app or from the ticket office at Livingston . Under 16’s are free entry for this match but must pick up a ticket from the ticket office which will be open until kick off .  This coming Saturday we host Stirling Albion at the Albyn Park with a 2-30pm kick off admission as is for all friendlies will be Adults £5 Concessions  £3  Under 16’s will be admitted free but under 16’s must have a season ticket which will be available to be picked up this week from the reception on Thursday evening  and Tuesday’s Thursday’s and Saturday’s when at home in July . Other friendlies will be updated in the days to come .

We hope to have season tickets available this week .  Adult tickets are priced at £150 with Concession’s £80 Under 16’s season tickets will be free .  Tickets will hopefully be available from Thursday evening at 7pm with Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Saturday’s when at home . Admission to matches this season have had to increase due to additional costs . Walk up to the gate on match days will be , Adults £10 concession’s £6 with 12-16 year olds without a season ticket £3 .

New signings can not be confirmed yet due to SFA admin being renewed and will be announced in due course . Hope to see you all at Livingston on Tuesday and we hope to be competitive in what will be a strong challenging league

We are delighted to have got past the South of Scotland Champions and gain promotion to the Lowland league . It has been an incredible season with many stories and memories to last a lifetime . The atmosphere created at the Albyn Park on Friday was brilliant and we thank you all for your support throughout the season home and away . We are very grateful to all our sponsors whom without we would not have been able to achieve the promotion . With many contributors to sponsorship we will be doing a massive thank you in due course .
