FALKIRK FOLD

It is with regret that Falkirk Junior football Club have informed the East region that they will be folding with immediate effect . Another club finds it hard to keep a team going in these hard times which goes to show how difficult it can be for the clubs to even just exist .The McBookie Premier league will continue this season with only Fifteen clubs and It is probable that there will only be three relegated as has been the procedure when such an occurrence like this happens ,this will be ratified in due course .Lets hope there are no more teams in similar position and we can look forward to a full season for all .
East Region Results

First casualty of the day was at Arniston where they had to postpone their game with Falkirk juniors due to lack of players for the visitors . In the games that took place there were shock scorelines all over with the big guns of Linlithgow ,Boness and Bonnyrigg all getting off to defeats on the first day . There were goals aplenty in all the leagues with Lochee United scoring five without reply at Fauldhouse . but the highest scorers came in the McBookie south district where Livingston United went down 10-1 at home to Lochgelly albert .BLAIRGOWRIE in the North district scored 7 with out reply at Lochore Welfare .

Game Against Bathgate Thistle

Our final build up game to the new season against Bathgate Thistle at home and the players turned in a much better performance than the one served up in mid week .Also Calum Rarity and Craig Young got good game time after there holiday and Michael Linton came on for some game time after being on the treatment table for the duration of pre season .(Bud Porteous has been working wonders with the injured players and we thank him for his time and effort and advice to the player’s ).Broxburn opened the scoring after ten minutes when some neat passing football on the right edge of the visitors box set up Alexander Miller who turned and saw his shot find the back of the net .The second came from Ross Donnelly who ran on to a through ball lobbed over the defence by Kieron Anderson and Ross made no mistake from 12 yards out after thirty one minutes . Scott McNaughton got the third on the hour mark when Kieron Anderson made a good run down the left and fired a cross across the penalty area and Scott fired home from 8 yards . Only disappointment in a game played in a good spirit was the sending off of the visitors Hassan Nyang for stamping with ten minutes to go . A very good display of football again and signs are good for the forthcoming season if the players continue with this kind of form .

Away To Pumpherston

Six goals shared in this warm up match with Broxburn taking lead through Anderson and Richards to give a two goal advantage at half time .The second half the hosts scored three within half hour to take the lead playing some nice football and giving our defenders a torrid time of it. Alexander Miller levelled the scoring to share the spoils .Not the best display of the pre season but time to sort things out before the big kick off next Saturday .

Match Against Vale of Leven

A really good footballing display today saw “THE BURN ” beat their west of Scotland visitors 1-0 . A goal after 39 minutes was the only reward for their efforts today with Alexander Miller getting his head to a inch perfect cross in from the right from Kieron Anderson . no more goals to come but the possession and passing was very pleasing to see at this early stage of our preparations for the new season .Another friendly has been organised for midweek with a short trip up to Pumpherston for a 7pm kick off on Wednesday evening the 27th of July .

A good work out for both sides with Ross Donnelly opening the scoring after 4 minutes after good build up play . Oakley number 10 scored a scorcher from 40 yards out into the top corner on 38 minutes but Kieron Anderson restored the advantage a minute later with a good run and chip over the keeper . Five minutes into the second half Oakley Number 8 forced the ball home from close range from a corner kick .Some good play and more to be taken out of the game again and we move on to Saturday with a Home game against Vale of Leven with a 2pm kick off .
