Broxburn Athletic vs Auchinleck Talbot

It was our 4th consecutive game at the Albyn today as we took on Junior giants Auchinleck Talbot in the Sunday Challenge Cup 4th round.Auchinleck Talbot come into the game lying in 8th position in the WOSFL Premier Division. In their last fixture, they beat Largs Thistle 1-0 at Beechwood Park on Wednesday night.Broxburn make 2 changes from last weeks 6-0 win over Kinnoull in the league. Connor Thomson and Callum Bremner come in for Liam Campbell & Nick Locke.

A Big travelling support travelled to Broxburn from Ayrshire and we were in for a good game between two good teams.Broxburn are in their traditional home strips. Red & White shirts, white shorts, and red and white socks and are starting with a 4-1-3-2 formation.Auchinleck Talbot are in Gold and Black shirts, with black socks and shorts. They look to be playing a 4-5-1 formation.

First effort comes from the visitors. Auchinleck number 4 Slooves with his back to goal turns and shoots wide of target.

GOAL! Broxburn have an early lead. Ball breaks to Errol Douglas, he drives into the box and slots it past Auchinleck keeper Glavin into the right corner.

Auchinleck have a half chance with 15 minutes on the clock. Effort by their captain Armstrong is over the bar. Soon after their number 7 Langan gets to the byline wide left and crosses a dangerous ball into the box that Greg Page clears.

A big chance for a Broxburn second on 22 minutes. From a free kick Connor Thomson finds defender Greg Page who heads just wide of the right-hand post.

GOAL! And it’s a Broxburn second. Errol Douglas finds Ben Davidson wide left. He cuts in and slots into the corner.

Big chance for a Broxburn Third. Long ball is headered on by Gary Brass. It finds Errol Douglas whose header is saved by Auchinleck Talbot keeper Glavin. Broxburn break again, Errol Douglas finds Connor Thomson whose shot is well blocked by Auchinleck defender

McPherson. Thomson and Douglas link up again and Douglas shoots right at THE Talbot keeper Glavin.

Another chance for Broxburn who are in total charge of the game. Ball in from Ben Davison finds Errol Douglas who heads just wide of the right-hand post.

GOAL! Broxburn have a third. Marky Munro crosses from the right and finds Errol Douglas who slots home at the back post.

Marky Munro has plenty space again out wide right, but this time his cross has too much on it and it harmlessly goes out for a Auchinleck goal kick.

Two quick fire booking for the visitors, first it was for their captain Armstong for a foul on Lewis Turner and then for their striker Smith who fouled Ben Davidson.

Good link up play by Marky Munro and Ben Davidson. Marky Munro receives wide right and delivers another great cross in but there were no takers in red and white.
