DUNDONALD BLUEBELL VS BROXBURN ATHLETIC
It was another huge game for Broxburn on Saturday afternoon, as we
travelled over the bridge to Cardenden, where we take on Dundonald
Bluebell in league action. Going into this match, Dundonald Bluebell are in
9th place in the East of Scotland Premier Division. They lie 3 points behind
Haddington Athletic with 4 games in hand. In their last fixture, Bluebell lost
against local rivals Hill of Beath 1-0 last Tuesday night.
The last time the two clubs met was on Saturday August the 12th, at Albyn
Park. In a 7-goal thriller, Broxburn Athletic won 4-3 with goals by Gary Brass
and an Errol Douglas Hatrick, Dundonald scorers that day were Healy,
Lumsden and Smith.
Broxburn make 2 changes to the side that won on Tuesday night, 2-1
away to Dunbar United. In come Bryan Mwangi & Greg Page who
replace Marcus Miller & Ross Nimmo. Dundonald Bluebell are in their
traditional all blue kits and start with a 4-5-1 formation. Broxburn
Athletic are in their changed kits, Gold and black shirts, black socks
and gold and black socks and start with a 4-4-1-1 formation.
It was a cloudy day in Fife as the teams emerged from the tunnel at
Mooreside Park with Broxburn kicking off proceedings. The away side
are first to threaten on 3 minutes. Striker Gary Brass shoots over the
bar. Not many talking points in the first 15 minutes. Broxburn have had
most of the ball but lack penetration.
On 17 minute, Steven Anderson plays a long ball forward, finding Gary
Brass. Brass jumps for the challenge but is judged to have fouled ex
Arbroath man Barry Sibanda by referee Struthers. In 24 minutes,
Anderson takes a bad touch and gifts Bluebell possession high up
the park. The Dundonald Bluebell trialist is through and just as he is
about to pull the trigger, Greg Page makes a vital block and clears
the danger. Page is booked on 27 minutes for a pull on Dundonald’s
Strang’s jersey.
33 minutes on the clock and Marky Munro does well to beat Ross
Drummond to the ball, He takes it to the by-line and his teasing cross
is well read by Bluebell keeper James Lennox who rises above
everyone to collect. Three minutes later, Dundonald have a rare
break up the park. Ross Drummond’s shot is just wide of the right-hand post. On 40 minutes, Broxburn take a quick free kick that sends
Alassan Jones through on goal. Dundonald Bluebell keeper James
Lennox makes a great save from Jones and on the rebound it falls to
Errol Douglas that is also saved by Lennox. Great goalkeeping.
We have a stop in play for a head knock between Broxburn winger
Bryan Mwangi & Dundonald defender Kyle McCulloch. McCulloch
eventually gets up thankfully, but unfortunately Mwangi has come off
worse and can’t continue.

DUNDONALD BLUEBELL 1 (Sibanda-90 Minutes)
BROXBURN ATHLETIC 3
It was a good day for Broxburn in the end. Another massive three
points and even with ten men we didn’t look under threat. Only three
more needed to get us over the line. We are up in Perth for a huge
match where we can clinch the title next Saturday against Jeanfield
Swifts, unless Musselburgh and Jeanfield Swifts lose points in their
games in hand on Tuesday night.
We wish Dundonald Bluebell all the best for the rest of the season.
