BONNYRIGG ROSE V BROXBURN ATHLETIC

In an entertaining game with both sides having chances the Lowland league side came out on top in this pre season warm up game . All though 0-0 at half time it was a good match with both sides creating good chances but both defences matching and thwarting any .The goals all came in the second half with Gordon Donaldson putting the visitors up 1-0 after 50 minutes The home side then scored three through Lee Currie, Jamie Docherty and George Hunter .Cammie Ross pulled one back with five minutes remaining .A good work out after a long lay off and a lot of positives to be taken from the game as we prepare for a season that is going to be unpredictable in every way .A full report will be on the matches website asap .

GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS ON RESTART

After a meeting with the SFA on Thursday past we were informed that warm up matches can be played from the 12th of September  and we have lined up a number of warm up games with a indicative date of mid October for the league to kick off . We have Bonnyrigg Rose ,Craigroyston , Stirling University ,Leith Athletic and Gala Fairydean  lined up for games .  The arrangement for these games are difficult to say the least with players being asked to arrive stripped ready to play the match and leave with kit on after the match with dressing rooms and showers at this time still not being permitted to be used . Not only that but Government guidelines still will not allow any spectators in the stadiums for these matches and possibly into the start of official games should they start as per predictions, with strictly only players and officials allowed  . These directions can change for the better in coming week’s and can also become even more strict if the pandemic starts to peak again .We all realise that arrangement cant go on as clubs have bills to pay and can not sustain any lengthy period of time without supporters the lifeblood of our game at this level . Not only for the community but the well being of the supporters who look forward to their local football match every Saturday. Please stay safe and hopefully in the coming weeks the government will allow some spectators back into grounds .

PHILIP FLEMING

It is with sadness that we have to inform of another Broxburn character having passed away .Philip Fleming passed away on Friday night with his family by his side . Philip was a character that was always at the front of anything he does as he done it with pride . He was often at Broxburn Athletics’ games and there is many a tale everybody could tell about their experiences whilst Philip was around . Everybody at the club sends  their deepest sympathy to  all his family and friends at this sad time .Philip you will be sadly missed by all . RIP

GETTING BACK

As everybody will be aware by now we have been given the go ahead for a return to training from Monday .There are still many restrictions during this initial period and we can only hope that the situation improves to allow further restrictions to be lifted in due course . Any rumours about restart dates are just that, there is nothing in concrete about this and the situation is being monitored and we will be advised if and when any form of games, friendlies/official, can be organised or indeed if supporter’s will be allowed into grounds and any limits put on these .We will keep you informed as soon as any news is given to us through our media sources . Lets hope we can all get back to enjoying watching and participating in the game we all love
