KELTY TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND

The Kelty Hearts tournament kick’s off today with Broxburn Athletic v Sauchie at !2.00 o’clock and the hosts Kelty Hearts playing Kennoway Star Hearts at 3.0pm . The winners will play in the final tomorrow (Sunday 23rd July ) at 3pm with the losers playing a third place play off at 12.00 o’clock again tomorrow . Lets hope we are a 3pm kick off tomorrow . Anyone travelling to Kelty should park in the community centre car park which is situated just past the normal turn off at Bath Street .

Key Draw Result

Tony Frasier c/o The Badgers won £50 in this week’s Key Draw but failed to pick the key to open the jackpot box .Next week’s draw on Sunday the 23rd of July will have a jackpot of £650 with 14 keys to pick from to open the jackpot box .

New Signing

The club are pleased to announce the signing of Nathan Donnelly-Kay .Nathan played with the Broxburn Athletic Under 19’s last season and had a dual registration and has played a few games last term for us . Nathan is yet another promising young player looking to follow in the steps of others who have made the step up from the juveniles .

Spartans Pre Season

Broxburn succumbed to four second half goals from Spartans after a promising first half . Michael Linton missed a penalty in the half quickly followed by a great save from the hosts keeper when Alexander Miller was through on goals two minutes later .These games are no mark for the season but to get some match fitness in time for the start of the season with our opponents already having played four games at a good level it told in the second half. Lots of positives to take from the game and we move on to training Tuesday and Thursday before next weeks tournament at Kelty .Only players missing today were Kieron Anderson (work) , Darren Gribben (work) , Craig Scott (work ), Craig Purves injured and Chris Townsley holiday .



BACK IN THE SWING

Preseason training has started and good turn out with only a couple of personnel still on their holidays to come back in . Good sessions so far and the boys are eager to get started .With Saturdays game at Spartans in mind players will be looking to get of to the best possible start .As I allways say preseason friendlies are just that warm up games where players , coaches and managers can see what they have and have to tweek, if any tweeks are needed , to the side or formation .

NEW SIGNING

Broxburn are pleased to announce the signing of Full Back Gordon Donaldson from Edinburgh City. Gordon has been with Edinburgh City since 2005 and brings a wealth of experience to the Albyn Park and is looking forward to the challenge ahead with “The Brox ” .

Signing updates

Frazer Paterson has resigned for anther season at the Albyn park and is looking to step up to the challenge ahead and relishes the prospect of the season to come having joined at the half way point of the season last term . Two new signings can be announced both whom were at Spartans last season .Jack Beesley who plays midfield has been signed after spending all most seven years at Spartans and was highly regarded by the management team at his previous club where he will still be involved as a very highly regarded community coach . He is 30 years old (16/9/86 ) and will bring a wealth of experience and talent to the Albyn park .He was previously with Edinburgh University prior to signing with the Spartans.

Christopher Townsley is another big loss to the Spartans who having spent the past season there before joining The Burn .Chris is 32 (4/3/1985 ) and has bags of experience to bring to the club he plays centre back and started his professional career at Alloa after youth spells at Hearts and Ross County ,in 2004 .His 6 years at recreation park saw him make 199 appearances for “The Wasps” .He then moved to Spartans for a season before going to Berwick rangers in June 2011 where he played sixty times over his two seasons there . Chris then joined East Stirlingshire in July 2013 where he quickly became a vital component in the Shire’s defence .In each of his three season’s there he was named player of the year before moving on to Spartans at the start of last season .
