The visitors thought they had scored early when Scott Moffatt put the ball into the net after being set up by Stephen MacDonald  but was offside . At the other end on 10 minutes Nicholas Locke turned and shot that was blocked . Two minutes later Conor Kelly did well in to the box and was cut out for a corner .The corner came in but when the ball broke out to Alexander Miller who shot over .Tranent took the lead on 14 minutes when a ball over the top was run on to by BRADLEY BARRETT who made no mistake and slotted home . On twenty one minutes a corner in caused mayhem but the ball struck the bar before it was put behind from 2 yards out a let off for the home side . Connor Wallace done well to come out and block Scott Moffatt who was left clean through and Grant Gavin cleared the ball away . Just before the half hour mark Conor Kelly tried to chip the keeper but Alasdair Adams tipped the ball over the bar . Broxburn levelled two minutes later when a miller shot was defended and the ball broke to JOHN GRANT 18 yards out to fire home the leveller .Jack Beesley saw a free kick go narrowly wide right from a free kick out on the left . The visitors regained the advantage when Barrett got down the left before crossing to STEPHEN MacDONALD who headed into the net on 38 minutes .   It was to get worse for the home side two minutes later when a ball through the middle was chased by BRADLEY BARRET who’s initial shot was blocked but the ball fell kindly to the Tranent forward who rolled the ball into the empty net . Gordon Donaldson saw a shot saved in the last action of the half .

The start of the second half saw the hosts force corners which finished with Locke firing just over from 20 yards out . Conor Kelly on 51 minutes saw an attempt go just wide right from the left hand side  . Locke done well to turn and make space for a shot that was saved just before the hour . Broxburn got back in the game on 61 minutes when a throw in on the right found Miller who crossed to the back post where NICHLAS LOCKE  fired home . Miller saw a shot blocked on 69 minutes as the hosts pressed for the equaliser A minute later a long kick out the box saw the ball fall to Stephen MacDonald who forced a save from Conor Wallace . Kelly saw a shot deflected for a corner a minute later at the other end . Alexander Miller saw a good run and shot over on 73 minutes . Tranent gave themselves a two goal cushion on 80 minutes when a blocked tackle in midfield the ball broke forward to BRADLEY BARRETT  who ran through on Wallace and fired it through the keeper into the net  to complete his hat trick . Broxburn tried to get back into the game and pressed the Tranent defence for the remainder of the game with Locke heading wide and again the same player shooting wide of the target was the last of the chances . Disappointing to be knocked out but need to pick ourselves up for the challenge’s to come .

Broxburn started very well and early on Cameron Ross showed he was in the mood when getting to the byeline and forcing an early corner . Fraser McLaren made a good run down the right for the hosts but his excellent ball into the danger area found no takers on nine minutes . Liam Peden made a good run into the box that Connor Wallace  saved well before John Grant cleared the danger . On 29 minutes Scott Richards sent in a free kick that caused mayhem in the box before the home defence cleared off the line . The opening goal did come after 31 minutes when ALEXANDER MILLER  got into the box before being brought down and the on form striker made no mistake from the spot . Within three minutes both Richards and Ross saw shots blocked and cleared as Broxburn turned the screw . Miller saw an attempt deflected for a corner on 39 minutes . Cameron Ross , two minutes later , saw a shot well saved from point blank by Daniel Laing in the hosts goal . The first half was running down and Ross saw a shot go just over the bar from a corner . Dunbar could have equalised when a corner into the box was cleared off the line by Donaldson . The last opportunity of the half fell to Scott Richards who was set up by Ross but the big keeper pulled off another save to keep his side in the game .

Early in the second half a ball into the box was cleared off Miller’s head by the defence as the striker was about to steer the ball home . Lloyd Fiddler tried an effort from 30 yards out but went harmlessly over the bar . With 51 minutes on the clock a Richards throw in found Ross who saw an other fine save at the expense of a corner . From the corner GORDON DONALDSON headed the ball past a crowded six yard box into the net .  A Richards free kick into the box was met by Grant Gavin but once more the keeper showed his worth to the home side . This was the procedure for the second half with Ross and Miller finding it difficult to get past Laing . The home side got back into the game on 76 minutes when a ball into the box was bundled over by STEVEN TAIT . . Unfortunately for the goal scorer that was his last contribution to the game when three minutes later he received a second yellow card for a rash tackle on Richards three minutes later  .The game was bit one sided with Laing continuing to defy the Broxburn Strikers . Dunbar could have sent the game into extra time in the last minute when a ball into the box found the visitors defence posted missing and Fraser McLaren had a free header four yards out that he will be disappointed about as it went past the right hand post .
