A bitter blow for Broxburn and not a good way to finish the season .We will regroup over the close season and with new signings already in progress will be stronger next season .

Despite early pressure from the hosts it was “THE BURN ” who go through to the final . As early as the third minute Boness should have been in front when Ross Philp was through on goal but shot over the bar from the right hand side . Two minutes later Grant Gavin threw his body in the way to block a shot from 20 yards out by Martin Wright . On seven minutes Connor Wallace turned a 25 yarder round his right hand post from Roddy McLellan . With 13 minutes on the clock the hosts were awarded a free kick 25 yards out and Robert Sloan saw his shot saved well by Wallace .Broxburn’s first opportunity came in fifteen minutes when Kieron Anderson put a ball through to Michael Linton who shot wide and high as he lost his balance trying to get his shot away . That could have been costly as Boness went up the other end and Darren Cole and Connor Wallace failed to deal with a ball into the back left of the six yard box where Wallace brought down McLellan and after initially giving the advantage the referee pointed to the spot despite the ball finding it’s way into the back of the net .After protests from the home side Martin Wright stepped up to take the spot kick and Connor Wallace turned hero by diving to his right and saving well . Boness continued to create chances and Robert Sloan had a chance from a free kick on 18 minutes but his effort went just over the bar from the left hand side . Twenty minutes gone in the first half and Michael Linton put a great ball across the box but Murphy in the hosts goal cut out the danger . The opener came after 25 minutes when Alexander Miller put the ball out to Anderson who saw his attempt at goal be deflected for a corner .From the corner the ball broke out to midfield to DARREN COLE who strode forward unchallenged before firing home in of the far right post and into the net .Two minutes later Darren Cole and Darren Gribben moved the ball well before the later fired over the bar . On 38 minutes Miller saw his header flash just over the bar from a corner kick . Nicholas Locke made a good run down the right hand side before cutting in along the bye line before trying to score from an acute angle but saw his attempt bounce along the cross bar and cleared from danger .Boness thought they had equalised before the break when a ball into the box was headed goalward and with Wallace beaten Craig Purves headed clear of the line and away from danger .Boness’s chances took a blow a minute later when Michael Gemmell was sent off for a second yellow card .
The second half started with the visitors taking control and Miller could have done better but saw his shot blocked by the keeper as he went through one on one .With 50 minutes on the clock former Broxburn favourite Fraser Keast went on a run down the right but before he got his cross in Grant Gavin put in a great tackle and the ball went for a corner .A minute later at the other end Craig Scott made a great cross park pass to Darren Gribben who was clear but saw his shot blocked by Murphy .On 55 minutes Gribben thought he had scored when he saw a shot come off the corner of the post and bar with many thinking it had hit the station and came back out . Miller set up Scott on the hour mark but his shot was deflected for a corner .The same duo a minute later carved open the home defence this time Scott’s attempt went narrowly wide .Locke made a good run and pass to Anderson who’s ball to the back post was just too strong and went harmlessly out for a bye kick . The visitors doubled their lead on 62 minutes when KIERON ANDERSON set off down the right hand side and cut into the box before firing past Murphy from a tight angle .This prompted the host’s to make a triple substitution and sub Callum Smith was set up by Keast within five minutes of coming on but the big striker saw his shot go just wide of the near post on the right . Anderson got clear down the right after 71 minutes but his ball intended for Miller was just behind the big striker and the chance was gone Keast and Smith created a good chance after 72 minutes but Smith’s effort went over the bar . with fifteen minutes left Nicholas Locke put a great ball through to Anderson down the right and his ball into box was met by Alexander Miller who saw his header go just over the bar . The game was all over in 82 minutes when Kieron Anderson passed to ALEXANDER MILLER who made room inside the box before firing home into the bottom right hand corner .Connor Wallace pulled of a fantastic save near the end from a goal bound Fraser Keast header . A good performance and the prize insight, a repeat of this and we will make up from the disappointment of losing to Tranent on penalties In the East of Scotland cup .

Anderson saw a shot well saved two minutes later before ROSS NIMMO got the seventh when Craig Scott put the ball out to Richards who set up the chance for him . Darren Gribben had an effort which went just past the near left hand post . Gabriele Auriemma had a good effort well saved with three minutes remaining . SCOTT RICHARDS got his second and his side’s eighth when he gathered the ball outside the box and was strong to hold off the defenders challenging him to fire home . With a minute left ROSS NIMMO was sent clear and made no mistake with only the keeper to beat . A good performance where despite it being easier than most superleague matches the players stuck to their tasks and finished the full ninety minutes in top gear .

Broxburn looked to improve on last weeks performance and keep ourselves in the cup . The first chance fell to us but from a corner the ball was bundled away .Newtongrange should have done better on eleven minutes when a through ball saw Cropley run through and go past the advancing Connor Wallace who raced out his goal wide left .Cropley got the ball into the box but not before defenders and Wallace had regrouped and cleared the danger . A couple of minutes later Linton set up Anderson who tried a shot from 30 yards out but it sailed over the bar . With 19 minutes on the clock a ball into the box caused mayhem in the visiting defence but Broxburn could not take advantage and they cleared the danger from the box . Kieron Anderson put a free kick into the box two minutes later but Nicholas Locke couldn’t get direction on his header and it went wide left of the goal . Broxburn were well on top but could not get the opener their play deserved .Alexander Miller had a shot just before the half hour mark but saw it go over the bar . Nicholas Locke was next to have an opportunity after good play down the left his shot was deflected onto the far right post and away from danger ,Ross Nimmo , Nicholas Locke and Alexander Miller contrived to set up a chance for the later with the striker seeing his attempt blocked and cleared . A Brian Murray effort for the visitors was not far away .Broxburn went up the other end of the pork and Alexander Miller saw his shot saved but the ball was parried into the path of KIERON ANDERSON who saw his first attempt blocked on the line but was quick to react to score at the second attempt .Cropley saw his shot saved after good work down the left by Newtongrange set him up 18 yards out .Nicholas Locke had a chance just before the break after being set up by Miller but the shot was saved .
The second have started in positive mode for the hosts when good one touch football set up Anderson down the right but did not come to nothing . Then Locke saw his attempt at goal saved two minutes later .Broxburn Should have doubled their advantage when Ross Nimmo ran into the box and was challenged by the keeper the ball broke to Locke who was definitely fouled in the box and the penalty was awarded . Kieron Anderson stepped up to take the kick but hit the left hand side of the post as he missed his first penalty of the season .With 55 minutes gone Anderson tried a shot from the wide right but saw his shot go wide left of the far post . Craig Scott sent Anderson through on goals just after the hour mark but shot straight into the hands of the advancing keeper . The visitors drew level on 65 minutes when a free kick came of the defensive wall and broke to JORDAN CROPLEY in the clear and he made no mistake from six yards out . half way through the second half a corner into the box by Anderson was knocked on by Miller who found Craig Scott but the midfielder saw his shot saved down at the bottom right hand corner of the goals . Broxburn had chances but were getting frustrated none were getting taken .The visitors almost took the lead when Neil Martynuik had a free kick slightly left of the east side goals twenty five yards out . His ferocious shot was deflected and hit rattled the right hand post and was cleared from the danger area .The winning goal came with four minutes left on the clock. A ball played down the right was chased by Ross Nimmo who beat the nonchalant keeper to the ball thinking he was favourite to gather the ball before it was too late and the Broxburn forward got to the by line and turned to put in a inch perfect past to KIERON ANDERSON who made no mistake from eight yards out with two defenders on line unable to do anything about it . A deserved win and last eight place secured this continues our unbeaten run since the end of November it would be good to continue that next week at Boness .

On a bitterly cold day with a biting wind going down the park it was always going to take time to get going .Broxburn were the first to have a shot at goals after five minutes when Scott Richards shot wide left . Five minutes later Kieron Anderson done well to turn and shoot but saw his attempt go over the bar .On the quarter hour mark a great ball into the box was just to far in front of his team mates .two minutes later Scott McNaughton set up Scott Richards and some how Jordan Mushet in the Y.M. goals managed to block his attempt at goal and the ball was cleared .Kirkcaldy opened the scoring on twenty minutes when a ball into midfield was picked up by SCOTT SMALL who fired home from thirty yards with Donoghue slipping as he attempted to get across to the ball . The visitors upped the pace and good play from Anderson saw him attempt a lob over the keeper but Mushet got back to pluck the ball out the air . Adam Doig had a shot that went wide left on 26 minutes .Craig Scott saw a shot tipped round the post for a corner . Just past the half hour mark Nicholas Locke turned and shot but the keeper again turned it past the post .The same player made a good run down the right and put a great ball across the box but there were no takers .
The second half started with Broxburn on the attack and KIERON ANDERSON scored a great goal after turning defenders he fired home to level the scoring 3 minutes into the second half . A minute later Craig Scott saw the keeper cut out his cross . On 53 minutes Anderson created a chance but saw the keeper again turn the ball past the post . Craig Scott hit the post on 57 minutes .On the hour mark Mushet again denied the visitors with a double save from Darren Downie and Locke . A minute later Anderson and Locke made a good one two with Locke’s shot saved . Sixty five minutes on the clock and pressure was beginning to tell on the home defence as they visibly started to fail to compete with the onslaught on their goal .Ross Nimmo on for Michael Linton forced a double save of Mushet .Darren Downie was next to test the keeper as he proved to be coping with the shot’s fired at him . On seventy minutes there was nothing he could do as Arthur handled the ball in the box and KIERON ANDERSON scored from the spot kick . On seventy four minutes Ross Nimmo broke down the right and saw his shot tipped by the far post for a corner . Kieron Anderson fired in a corner on seventy minutes and CRAIG PURVES met it at the back post to head home .Darren Downie was again foiled by the keeper who saved with his feet to stop more scoring .With 10 minutes left a great ball to the back post area by Anderson was met by ALEXANDER MILLER who made no mistake from eight yards out . Alexander Miller thought he had scored again four minutes later but saw his shot well saved . The best goal of the game came with a minute left when NICHOLAS LOCKE juggled the ball past two defenders then another and another before firing home past the keeper by the way of the back left post . Overall A competent performance and progress in another cup .
