Match Report- (Linlithgow Rose-Away- 09/08/2025)
We travelled to Prestonfield on Saturday to take on local Rivals Linlithgow Rose in the Union Canal Derby.
Linlithgow Rose are in maroon strips, white shorts and maroon socks, while Broxburn Athletic are in all navy Blue. Broxburn Athletic make six changes to the team that defeated Heriot Watt 4-0 at the Oriam last Tuesday night. In come Mikey Andrews, Robbie McGale, Shaun Brown, Jon Robertson, Louis Kennedy and Kyle Bell who replace Bob Watt, Matty McDonald, Nick Locke, Jamie Docherty, Luke Morris and Ewan MacPherson. Linlithgow Rose make seven changes to the side that defeated Pumpherston on Tuesday night Ciaran Greene, Greg Skinner, Dylan Paterson, Callum Rae, Lucas Stenhouse, Olly Hamilton and Louis MaGuire replace Cammy Thomson, Gary Thom, Adri Anagnostou, Regan Lumsden, Alan Sneddon, James Berry & Harry McMartin.
Broxburn are the first to threaten with only a minute on the clock. Errol Douglas picks it up on the right and tees up Shaun Brown, whose shot has no power and roles wide of the left-hand post.
Up the other end, Dylan Paterson’s shot is saved by Broxburn keeper Mikey Andrews on two minutes. On twelve minutes, a corner for Linlithgow Rose by Dylan Paterson is headed over the bar by Connor McMullan. The home side hit the post through a Jamie Watson shot.
On fifteen minutes, Jon Robertson is booked for a late tackle on Linlithgow captain Connor McMullan. The resulting free kick taken by Louis Maguire is over the bar for the visitors.
On nineteen minutes, Louis Kennedy plays in Errol Douglas who gets ahead of Linlithgow centre back Ciaran Greene, but the centre back does very well to block the shot. A minute later, Errol Douglas lays the ball of to Chris O’ Kane who volleys wide of the right-hand post.
GOAL! Linlithgow score the opening goal. Connor McMullan’s high ball into the box is picked up by Ciaran Greene who takes a touch before converting his shot into the right corner.

On twenty-five minutes, Linlithgow gaffer Gordon Herd is booked for kicking the ball away. On thirty-two minutes, a shot by Linlithgow’s Calum Rae is saved by Mikey Andrews.
Next in the book is Broxburn Athletic winger Louis Kennedy for a foul on thirty-four minutes.
On forty minutes, Shaun Brown’s free kick is over the bar.
GOAL! Its 2-0 to the hosts. Lucas Stenhouse takes on two Broxburn players before dinking it over Broxburn keeper Mikey Andrews and into the net.

GOAL! Linlithgow have a third right on half time. Ciaran Greene’s long ball forward finds Dylan Paterson, who has beaten the offside trap with just the keeper to beat, he keeps his cool and slots into the right corner.

On forty-six minutes, Chris O’ Kane is shown a second yellow card for a foul, but referee Thompson realised he has only booked him once. It’s reduced to a yellow.
On fifty-three minutes, Linlithgow’s Calum Rae is through on goal and plays in Olly Hamilton who scores but is ruled offside.

Linlithgow make their first change of the match on fifty-six minutes. Alan Sneddon replaces Calum Rae.
On fifty-seven minutes, Dylan Paterson does well to force a corner for Linlithgow. From the resulting corner taken by Paterson, it’s headed half clear by Sam Gormley as far as Cieran Greene who fires his shot over the bar. On fifty-nine minutes, Dylan Paterson’s shot is saved by Broxburn keeper Mikey Andrews.
Linlithgow Rose make another change on sixty-three minutes. Jamie Allan replaces Joe Smith.
GOAL! A cross from Lucas Stenhouse from the left finds Alan Sneddon who scores from close range.

GOAL! Two minutes later and Linlithgow have a fifth. Lucas Stenhouse picks up, drives at goal before finding the bottom left corner with a shot.

Same old story when we come here, show them far too much respect. In the game at 1-0, but heads go down after the second and Linlithgow take control. We hopefully bounce back next week away at Cowdenbeath.
