Civil Service StrollersReport
By Stuart McLellan
This weekend, we returned to Albyn Park where we take on Civil Service Strollers on Lowland League duty.
Broxburn are in their traditional home kits. Red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. Visitors Civil Service Strollers are in all navy-blue kit with red trim.
Broxburn make three changes to last week’s 3-1 loss to Tranent. There is a debut for Alloa loanee Leo Easdon and starts for Luke Watkins and Robbie Hamilton. They replace Errol Douglas, Kyle Bell and Gallagher Lennon. Civil Service Strollers make four changes to the team that defeated Albion Rovers 2-0 last weekend. In comes Josh McCulloch, Calum Yeats, Alieu Faye and Ryan Duncan. They replace Jay Mill, Alfie Smith, Tom Findlay and Chrissy McGinn.
GOAL! Civil Service Strollers take an early lead. With just two minutes on the clock, Ryan Duncan’s corner on the left is headed home from close range by Matty Shaw.
On seventeen minutes, Josh McCulloch plays a long ball forward that finds Mark Beveridge through on goal. His effort is wide of the right-hand post.
GOAL! Broxburn equalise! A cracking ball from centre back by Sam Gormley finds Robbie McGale, who accelerates down the right, away from the Strollers centre back Ross Pollock and cuts it back for Robbie Hamilton who scores a tap in from close range.
The first booking of the match comes on nineteen minutes. Strollers’ defender Josh McCulloch is booked for a foul on Luke Watkins.
Sam Gormley plays another great pass from centre back, right to the feet of Robbie McGale, whose cross is cleared.
GOAL! Strollers retake the lead on twenty-eight minutes. Marc Laird whips a free kick into the box, and the header is won by Matty Shaw at the back post, across goal to Ross Pollock who scores from close range with a header.
On thirty-one minutes, Luke Watkins cuts in from the left wing, and his shot is saved by Strollers keeper Adam Meek.
Unfortunately, Robbie Hamilton is injured can’t continue and is replaced by Kyle Bell on forty-five minutes.
Half Time (2-1 Civil Service Strollers)
Broxburn make a change at the half time break. Nick Locke replaces Leo Easdon.
A deflected Jamie Docherty shot is wide of the right-hand post on forty-six minutes. Two minutes later, Kyle Bell picks up deep in the Broxburn half. He drives forward, before releasing Luke Watkins on the left. His dangerous low cross is turned behind by Strollers Ross Clarke for a Broxburn corner. Civil clear the resulting corner.
GOAL! Broxburn are level on fifty-six minutes. Ali Shrive’s long ball forward looks harmless, but Strollers defender Josh McCulloch makes a mess of it, Nick Locke intercepts the slack pass and slots past keeper Meek for 2-2.
Double change for Civil Service Strollers on Fifty-seven minutes. Chrissy McGinn and Tom Findlay replace Josh McCulloch and Callum Yeats.
Scott McCrory-Irving drives into the box from the left and his shot is saved by Adam Meek.
Broxburn gaffer John Miller is booked for something he said to the referee on sixty-two minutes. On sixty-three minutes, a free kick by Robbie McGale is saved by Civil keeper Adam Meek. A long ball forward by Meek looks to be under control. Marcus Lavery looks to head back to keeper Bob Watt, who has come of his line and didn’t expect it. Fortunately, it goes narrowly wide of the left-hand post.
Double Civil Service Strollers change on seventy-four minutes. Alfie Smith and Adrianos Anagnostou replace Ryan Duncan and Mark Beveridge.
Next in the book is Strollers Chrissy McGinn for a foul on Marcus Lavery on eighty-three minutes.
Substitution Civil Service Strollers on eighty-seven minutes. Jay Mill replaces Arran Brookfield.
On eighty-nine minutes. A corner by Robbie McGale is headed wide by Sam Gormley.
A draw is probably a fair result in the end. Broxburn will be disappointed on the two goals conceded. Now we look to Tuesday and a chance to get to the EOSQC final. Biggest game of the season!

VIEW FROM THE ALBYN MAN OF THE MATCH
This week, I never had a chance to put a poll out. But thought, Luke Watkins was excellent. Fitness starting to show now and was excellent.
