Our match in the McBookie Superleague on Saturday the 14th of October away to Dundonald Bluebell is off. Dundonald have exercised the right to postpone their game if they have any players in the Scotland pool and have midfielder Lewis McKenzie in the squad that day when Scotland will be playing the Isle of Man in the Umbro Quadrangular tournament final game . Bonnyrigg Rose who have two players in the squad will also take the same option .Penicuik Athletic who Had Andy Forbes in the squad as Andy will be getting married that day and has pulled out the squad .We will have no fixture that day .

At Broxburn’s Scottish cup first round tie at home to Fraserburgh Utd ,The 2007’s took part in a small sided game across the park at half time and they escorted the players out on to the park at the start of the game and all involved thoroughly enjoyed the occasion .It is hoped to repeat the exercise at future home games giving the children an avenue to let the bigger community know what happens at a community club . Many of the children hand picked their players to walk out with and shows they look up to their senior mentor’s in this way .The crowd showed their appreciation for their efforts .

A good competent performance from start to finish seen us go through to the second round .A Neil Hay own goal after five minutes then a penalty by Darren Gribben on the quarter hour mark set the theme for this tie . Darren Gribben got a third just before half time .The second half dropped in pace and it was with under ten minutes to go the fourth came from a Kieran Anderson free kick which he fired home from twenty yards out . Kieran got a fifth with three minutes to go and Alexander Miller , who could have had a barrow load of goals today got one at last with a minute remaining . A very comfortable win and a second round draw to look forward to nice to be able to say that this season .

Two half’s two tales Newtongrange went in at half time 1-0 to the good through a penalty by Kenny O’Brien but no one was to see the transformation in scorelines come the end of the game . A Jack Beasley deflected free kick started the fight back before Darren Gribben got one from a spot kick .Then Brian Murray got sent off and all hell broke loose but from the resultant Anderson free kick Nicholas Locke headed home the third . Zander Miller added two before Kieran Anderson added two sandwiching another penalty from the visitors Kyle Scott .

A good three points today with the whole team buckling down and playing out the ninety minutes despite the makeshift team and all performed admirably .Darren Gribben ,Gordon Donaldson and Alexander Miller may have got the goals but the support they received and composure fromo back to front today was a marked improvement .Even when Lewis Elder got one back to make it 2-1 we never looked like pressing the self destruct button today and makes for a better week at the club after last week’s major disappointment .

Fixtures have now been scheduled for well in to October .After our Scottish Junior cup tie with Fraserburgh Utd we are away from home for three weeks . On Saturday the 30th of September we travel to Broughty Ath in the McBookie Superleague with a 2-30pm kick off (subject to cup replays ) .On Saturday the 7th of October we go to Penicuik Athletic in the Fife And Lothians cup with a 2-30pm kick off and finally for now on the 14th of September we are due to play at Dundonald Bluebell in the McBookie Superleague with a 2-30pm kick off (this game will be subject to players playing for Scotland juniors that day and requesting the game off Dundonald have a player in the squad and we have Alexander Miller on the stand by list ) .
