John Millar announced as new manager

Broxburn Athletic can announce that John Millar has been appointed as the new first team manager at Albyn Park.

John previously played with the Brox, leaving almost ten years ago after six seasons at the club. Management was then the next step starting out as assistant to Gordon Herd at Camelon and then Linlithgow Rose where they enjoyed a very successful spell.

The UEFA B licenced coach left Prestonfield at the end of last season to join Craig Young as co-manager at Whitburn.

Millar lead the team with coaching and support from Lewis Turner, Andy Sheridan and Billy McPhee.

We’ll bring you input from John ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Gala Fairydean.

Steve Pittman departs

We can announce today that Steve Pittman has taken the decision to step down from his role at the club.

Steve arrived back at the Albyn, for his second spell, in January 2023 and led the club to league title and promotion success in his first full season 2023/24 alongside Derek McWilliams, Stephen McIlhone and Billy McPhee. In total, the group have led the Brox through 115 matches with 70 wins (61%), 13 draws (11%) and 32 defeats (28%).

After seeing the club through such a successful period, Steve departs with the club’s thanks and our best wishes for the future.

Derek McWilliams will lead the team on a transitional basis until decisions are made on the next steps and we will provide updates on these in due course.

Introducing Our New Signings

Chris O’ Kane (26 Years Old)

Centre Midfield

Ex clubs- Pollok & Kirkintilloch Rob Roy

Chris has had a good pre-season with plenty of minutes in the legs. He has brought much needed physicality to the team and can play in numerous positions

Michael Andrews (35 Years Old)

Goalkeeper

Ex clubs- Bonnyrigg Rose & Cowdenbeath

Mikey has only played twice for the Badgers in preseason. He stood out against Drumchapel United, making some vital saves. It’s good for the club to have two solid keepers going into our second Lowland league season.

Sam Gormley (23-Year-old)

Centre Back

Ex clubs- Edinburgh City & Bonnyrigg Rose

Sam signed halfway through pre-season and has made a good impression so far. A great talker, who can also play right back.

Marcus Lavery (23 Years old)

Left Back

Ex clubs- Albion Rovers & Stirling University

Marcus joined from league rivals Albion Rovers. He has been a bit part player in pre-season, but another good, versatile player who can fill in at centre back.

Robbie McGale (25-year-old)

Right Back

Ex Clubs- Cumbernauld Colts & Peterhead

Robbie has been injured and hasn’t featured for the club so far, he has played a lot of football at a higher level. Making ten appearances for Peterhead in season 22/23.
