ST ANDREWS V BROXBURN ATHLETIC

With every other game off it was good to be playing at St Andrews on a park that was in remarkable good condition despite the weather .Two goals from Jack Beasley and one from Greg Binnie saw us go in comfortably at half time .When Paul Quinn headed past his own keeper from a Broxburn corner on 52 minutes the points were in the bag . Tough conditions in which every single player played their part in probably for overall our best performance for a wee while .The players determination, commitment and professionalism got us through a tough hurdle as we strive to bring the title to the Albyn Park . BROXBURNATH V STIRLING UNIVERSITY (eos)

6-1 scoreline  was hard work with the very strong wind blowing down albyn park in the Burn’s favour the first half . But it was Stirling University who opened the scoring after only three minutes through Calum Heath , but we fought back well and Alexander Miller double put us up 2-1 at half time .It was 3-1 on 74 minutes through Craig Scott and the same player eased the game in 84 minutes with a fourth before Nicholas Locke and Dominico Gibson got two late goals which probably the battling Uni boys did not deserve ,that’s football . We keep our 100% league record for the season and move on the road next week to St Andrews .A bus will be leaving the Albyn Park at 11-45am ,anyone wishing a seat should contact the committee as soon as possible .

BROXBURN ATH V DUNIPACE KING CUP 1ST ROUND

This weekends match was a comfortable victory over Dunipace in the King cup . This win gives us a second round home match on March the 23rd against either Dunbar United or Coldstream ,  who will play their first round tie on Tuesday evening the 6th of March . Good to see so many players get good game time with Greg Binnie grabbing himself a hat trick on his first 90 minutes for a while added to be a goal from Dominico Gibson will do his confidence no harm at all . Grant Gavin getting the last fifteen minutes to make his season debut was another plus .This shows how strong a squad we have mustered  this will be needed for the run in . There are no easy games in this grade anymore with every club seemingly improving as the season goes on . No team will be taken for granted as we have five tough league games and at least two cup ties left to keep the good work going .(full report on match in matches on website ). PS:- would like to thank everyone who donated in the donation buckets and this will be repeated next week at our home game against Stirling University (eos) , every penny is much appreciated and you have been very generous in giving ,THANK YOU VERY MUCH from all at Broxburn Athletic Football Club

Some details on Sports Club Chaplaincy

History of Sports Chaplaincy Scotland
Sports Chaplaincy Scotland effectively began in 1998 when Mark Fleming was appointed as chaplain to Partick Thistle FC. His appointment came in the aftermath of what was probably the most turbulent time in their history when the club had just been saved from extinction by their fans’ fundraising efforts. At that time four other Scottish clubs were known to have chaplains.
John Boyers, chaplain to Manchester United FC and founder of SCORE (the original name of Sports Chaplaincy UK) made regular trips up North to encourage his Scottish counterparts and suggested that Mark start to visit other clubs to offer to source and train chaplains for them. In 2004, Mark appointed chaplains at Kilmarnock FC and St Mirren FC respectively.

From 2008 Mark was invited by the Scottish FA to deliver a seminar on the basics and benefits of chaplaincy within football at the UEFA A Licence coaching course. By the following year, the number of chaplains in SPFL clubs grew to 22 and by 2011, 36 out of the 42 SPFL clubs had chaplains (the number now stands at 40).
By this stage clubs from the Highland League, Lowland League, Women’s Premier League and the Junior Football Association also began to make enquiries about having a chaplain and by 2014 Mark became full-time in his role as pastoral support director for Scottish football in order to continue to lead the way forward.
Today there are upwards of 100 chaplains at football clubs in Scotland and Mark also serves as chaplain to the Scottish FA.

Catriona Lamont is Sports Chaplaincy Scotland administrator as well as being chaplain to Hibernian Women FC.

LICENCE APPLICATION

Broxburn Athletic Football club have applied for their club Licence with the S.F.A. . We have got past the first hurdle with the Licence committee putting our application forward to the S.F.A board and we await the next board meeting .This has been a costly exercise undertaken by the club itself with no effect on the community club business . We have opened a Go Fund Me page and would appreciate if you could go to the link and donate as much as you can to help raise the funds needed to complete the works needed to gain the licence  Any donation will be greatly appreciated and we can look forward to entry into the Scottish Cup and avenues for grants etc once the licence has been granted .Once again we would like to thank you in advance for your continued support that will set the club up for future generations to come .
