Broxburn Athletic make three changes from last week’s 3-1 cup defeat to Camelon. Bob Watt, Gallagher Lennon and Jamie Docherty replace Jack McConnell, Robbie McGale and Errol Douglas. Caledonian Braves make three changes to last weekends 1-0 loss to Linlithgow Rose. Robbie Stewart, Ross McNeil and Dom McMahon replace Jack McDowall, Cameron Breadner and Connor McLaren.

Caledonian Braves start the game fast. A deep cross from the right by Ryan Murray finds Robbie Stewart, whose header rattles the bar with just a minute played.

On fourteen minutes, Luke Watkins wins possession of Braves defender Jack Brown before shooting just over the bar. Two minutes later, Kyle Bell plays in Luke Watkins whose shot is saved by Braves keeper Bernard White. But Watkins is ruled offside after a late flag from the far side linesman.

We have a stoppage in play on twenty-five minutes. Luke Watkins is down injured and can’t continue. He is replaced by Kane Thomson.

On twenty-nine minutes, a shot by Lennon Walker is well blocked by Sam Gormley for a corner. The resulting corner taken by Ryan Murray is punched half clear by Bob Watt, only as far as Ross McNeil whose volley is headed clear by Alasdair Shrive. On thirty-six minutes, a long ball forward by Greg Page looks to find Kane Thomson through on goal. But Braves keeper Bernard White does well to come of his line and catch the ball before Thomson.

A Dom McMahon shot is over the bar for Caley Braves on forty-five minutes.

Half Time (0-0)

 Greg Page is booked on forty-six minutes for a foul on Lennon Walker. He is closely followed by Marcus Lavery who also fouls Lennon Walker on forty-eight minutes.

GOAL! Caledonian Braves take the lead on fifty-two minutes.  Kyle Bell gives away possession to Zak Butterworth, who plays in Ross McNeil, with just Bob Watt to beat, he makes no mistake and slots low into the net.

Next in the referee’s book is Caledonian Braves centre midfielder Ryan Murray for a foul on Jamie Docherty.

On fifty-seven minutes, a shot by Ryan Murray is over the bar for Braves.

Marcus Lavery is shown a second yellow card on sixty-two minutes for a pull-on Zac Butterworth and Broxburn are reduced to ten men.  Ryan Murray fires the resulting free kick over the bar.

Broxburn make a substitution on sixty-three minutes. Errol Douglas replaces Kyle Bell.

On seventy-five minutes. A Scott McCrory-Irving corner finds Greg Page who wins the header at the back post. The header finds Jamie Docherty whose flick on hits the post and into the arms of Braves keeper Bernard White.

Caledonian Braves make their first change of the match on seventy-eight minutes. Regan McLaren replaces goalscorer Ross McNeil.

Braves make another change on eighty seven minutes. Connor McLaren replaces Lennon Walker

Broxburn make another change on seventy-nine minutes. Nick Locke replaces Matty McDonald.

GOAL! Broxburn equalise on eighty-nine minutes. A cross by Gallagher Lennon on the left finds Kane Thomson who heads home for his first for the club.

Jamie Docherty plays in Errol Douglas who shoots over the bar on ninety-two minutes.

Braves are using their one-man advantage and pushing for a winner. Ball is worked from the right to Ryan Murray whose shot is well blocked by Kane Thomson. Braves keep the pressure on. Zac Butterworth has a shot that is also blocked on the line by Kane Thomson.

On ninety-three minutes. Dom McMahon is booked for a foul on Jamie Docherty.

A good point away on the road against a good team. Great response from Tuesday night.

This weekend, we returned to Albyn Park where we take on Civil Service Strollers on Lowland League duty.

 Broxburn are in their traditional home kits. Red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. Visitors Civil Service Strollers are in all navy-blue kit with red trim.

Broxburn make three changes to last week’s 3-1 loss to Tranent. There is a debut for Alloa loanee Leo Easdon and starts for Luke Watkins and Robbie Hamilton. They replace Errol Douglas, Kyle Bell and Gallagher Lennon. Civil Service Strollers make four changes to the team that defeated Albion Rovers 2-0 last weekend. In comes Josh McCulloch, Calum Yeats, Alieu Faye and Ryan Duncan. They replace Jay Mill, Alfie Smith, Tom Findlay and Chrissy McGinn.

GOAL! Civil Service Strollers take an early lead. With just two minutes on the clock, Ryan Duncan’s corner on the left is headed home from close range by Matty Shaw.

On seventeen minutes, Josh McCulloch plays a long ball forward that finds Mark Beveridge through on goal. His effort is wide of the right-hand post.

GOAL! Broxburn equalise! A cracking ball from centre back by Sam Gormley finds Robbie McGale, who accelerates down the right, away from the Strollers centre back Ross Pollock and cuts it back for Robbie Hamilton who scores a tap in from close range.

The first booking of the match comes on nineteen minutes. Strollers’ defender Josh McCulloch is booked for a foul on Luke Watkins.

Sam Gormley plays another great pass from centre back, right to the feet of Robbie McGale, whose cross is cleared.

GOAL! Strollers retake the lead on twenty-eight minutes. Marc Laird whips a free kick into the box, and the header is won by Matty Shaw at the back post, across goal to Ross Pollock who scores from close range with a header.

On thirty-one minutes, Luke Watkins cuts in from the left wing, and his shot is saved by Strollers keeper Adam Meek.

Unfortunately, Robbie Hamilton is injured can’t continue and is replaced by Kyle Bell on forty-five minutes.

Half Time (2-1 Civil Service Strollers)

 Broxburn make a change at the half time break. Nick Locke replaces Leo Easdon.

A deflected Jamie Docherty shot is wide of the right-hand post on forty-six minutes. Two minutes later, Kyle Bell picks up deep in the Broxburn half. He drives forward, before releasing Luke Watkins on the left. His dangerous low cross is turned behind by Strollers Ross Clarke for a Broxburn corner. Civil clear the resulting corner.

GOAL! Broxburn are level on fifty-six minutes. Ali Shrive’s long ball forward looks harmless, but Strollers defender Josh McCulloch makes a mess of it, Nick Locke intercepts the slack pass and slots past keeper Meek for 2-2.

Double change for Civil Service Strollers on Fifty-seven minutes. Chrissy McGinn and Tom Findlay replace Josh McCulloch and Callum Yeats.

Scott McCrory-Irving drives into the box from the left and his shot is saved by Adam Meek.

Broxburn gaffer John Miller is booked for something he said to the referee on sixty-two minutes. On sixty-three minutes, a free kick by Robbie McGale is saved by Civil keeper Adam Meek. A long ball forward by Meek looks to be under control. Marcus Lavery looks to head back to keeper Bob Watt, who has come of his line and didn’t expect it. Fortunately, it goes narrowly wide of the left-hand post.

Double Civil Service Strollers change on seventy-four minutes. Alfie Smith and Adrianos Anagnostou replace Ryan Duncan and Mark Beveridge.

Next in the book is Strollers Chrissy McGinn for a foul on Marcus Lavery on eighty-three minutes.

Substitution Civil Service Strollers on eighty-seven minutes. Jay Mill replaces Arran Brookfield.

On eighty-nine minutes. A corner by Robbie McGale is headed wide by Sam Gormley.

A draw is probably a fair result in the end. Broxburn will be disappointed on the two goals conceded. Now we look to Tuesday and a chance to get to the EOSQC final. Biggest game of the season!

We return to Albyn Park this Saturday for a rescheduled game in the Lowland League against on form Tranent.

 Broxburn are in their traditional home kits, red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. Visitors Tranent are in all blue kits.

Broxburn make two changes to last Friday’s 1-0 win over Hearts B. In comes Jamie Docherty and Errol Douglas who replace Robbie Hamilton and Kane Thomson. Tranent make two changes to last weekend’s home draw with Cowdenbeath. In comes Harry Girdwood and Guy McGarry who replace Greig Spence and Euan Greig.

The visitors are first to threaten on three minutes from a corner, there is a scramble in the box and eventually after a bit of panic, Broxburn keeper Bob Watt collects the ball. A minute later, a shot by Guy McGarry is just wide of the right-hand post.

Jamie Docherty races towards goal and tries to find Errol Douglas with a ball over. Tranent’s Josh Grigor does well to match Docherty and get an important block in before Tranent clear their lines. On eight minutes, a corner from Robbie McGale finds Sam Gormley at the back post, whose header hits of the back of Euan Bauld, but the linesman gives a goal kick.

There is a huge downpour at Albyn Park, as everyone races for the stand.

On twenty-four minutes, a free kick from Dean Brett is over the bar from Tranent. A shot by Guy McGarry is saved by Bob Watt on twenty-six minutes.  On twenty-eight minutes, a throw in by Tranent’s Nick Aitchison is headed half clear by Sam Gormley as far as Dean Brett whose volley is narrowly wide of the right post.

The visitors are having the better of possession so far without really creating much. Putting a lot of long balls/long throws into the box that Broxburn are defending well.

Alasdair Shrive is the first in the book for a push on Guy McGarry on thirty-eight minutes. Two minutes later, Marcus Lavery is booked for a crunching tackle where he looked to get the ball.

A free kick by Connor Doan is just wide of target on forty-two minutes.

Robbie McGale’s ambitious effort is over the bar bang on the half time whistle.

 A low Robbie McGale cross is right over the goal line with no takers on forty-eight minutes. A Jamie Docherty shot from distance is over the bar for Broxburn on fifty minutes. On sixty minutes, Scott McCrory Irving plays a good ball forward to Errol Douglas, who plays it infield to Kyle Bell. Kyle takes a touch with his left before hitting a volley that is well saved down low by Kelby Mason.

Tranent’s Scott Gray is booked on sixty-two minutes for a foul on Kyle Bell.

A free kick by Jamie Docherty is saved by Tranent keeper Kelby Mason on sixty-three minutes. Docherty also  had a shot over the bar a minute later

 GOAL! Tranent open the scoring on sixty-five minutes. A long ball forward is nodded on by Guy McGarry to Cameron McGinley who lays it off for the onrushing McGarry who finds the right corner.

 Broxburn make their first change of the match. Luke Watkins replaces Jamie Docherty on sixty-six minutes.

Gallagher Lennon is next to see yellow. He goes right through the back of Guy McGary on seventy minutes.

GOAL! Tranent add a second on seventy-two minutes. A long ball into the box by Nick Aitchison is headed down by Guy McGarry for Scott Gray, whose low drive finds the left corner.

Goal! 3-0 Tranent on seventy-eight minutes. The ball breaks to veteran striker Greig Spence who scores from close range.

Double Substitution for Broxburn on seventy-nine minutes. Robbie Hamilton & Nick Locke replace Alasdair Shrive and Matty McDonald

Tranent make a treble substitution on eight minutes. Sam Jones, Greig Young and Euan Greig replace Dean Brett, Robbie McIntyre and Guy McGarry.

Goal! Broxburn pull a goal back on eighty-five minutes. A low Luke Watkins cross finds Robbie Hamilton who scores at the back post.

Gallagher Lennon receives a second yellow card for a foul on Josh O’ Connor on ninety minutes and Broxburn are reduced to ten men.

Tranent head home with a big three points. Broxburn lost focus for ten minutes and were punished. Not much between the sides.

Broxburn thought they took the lead a minute later. A corner on the left from Robbie McGale finds Sam Gormley at the back post whose header back across the goal is turned in by Matty McDonald, who is judged to be offside but is onside by a distance.

On seven minutes, a shot by Jaedon Donker is wide by the hosts. A shot by Connor Dowis comfortably saved by Bob Watt on fourteen minutes. On forty-two minutes, a shot by Owen Muirhead is wide of target.

Unfortunately, Kane Thomson picks up an injury and has to be replaced by Luke Watkins on forty-three minutes.

We returned to Albyn Park on Saturday, where we host Celtic B in the Lowland League.

Broxburn Athletic are in their traditional kits. Red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. Visitors Celtic B are in their changed kits of white shirts and green shorts and socks.

Broxburn Athletic make four changes to the side that lost 3-2 to University of Stirling last weekend. In comes Jon Robertson, Luke Watkins, Kane Thomson and Marcus Lavery. They replace Greg Page, Errol Douglas, Alasdair Shrive and Kyle Bell. Visitors Celtic B make two changes from their last fixture, a 3-1 win over Cumbernauld colts. In comes Marcus Gill and Robert Rachwal who replace Corey Shaw and Sean McArdle.

GOAL! Broxburn take the lead on five minutes. And it’s a well worked goal. Matty McDonald picks up the ball before passing to Kane Thomson, Thomson feeds in Robbie McGale on the right, whose cross finds Jamie Docherty who side foots it into the corner.

A shot by debutant Kane Thomson deflects over the bar on eleven minutes. The resulting corner is headed clear by Celtic B’s Nathan Meechan.

On twenty-seven minutes, Celtic B come close to an equaliser. Thomas Hatton picks up on the right, cuts inside and drags his shot just wide of the post. On thirty-three minutes, a shot by Thomas Hatton is blocked by Sam Gormley. Two minutes later, a shot by Nathan Meechan is way over the bar for Celtic B.

Celtic B have had a lot of the ball in the first half with no real threat and not many talking points Barr a good Broxburn goal.

Number of changes at the half time break. Unfortunately, Jon Robertson suffered an injury and was replaced by Alasdair Shrive. Celtic B make a double change, Joseph Haney and Nathan Meechan are replaced by Cole Crawford and Rhys Dargie.

 Good play by Kane Thomson who robs Celtic B’s Michael Charlton, drives in on goal. His shot is saved by the feet of Celtic keeper Marcus Gill.

GOAL! Celtic B equalise on fifty-seven minutes. Michael Charlton finds substitute Rhys Dargie, who cuts into the box and finds the left corner with a sweet strike.

Broxburn make a double change on sixty-one minutes. On comes Kyle Bell and Errol Douglas who replace Luke Watkins and Jamie Docherty.

Huge chance for Broxburn. Kyle Bell robs Celtic’s Franics Turley of the ball. He squares it for Errol Douglas, whose shot is blocked by an excellent challenge by Finlay Hale for the visitors.

Substitute Errol Douglas has a shot saved pushed away by Celtic keeper Gill, the loose ball is cleared by Michael Charlton.

Celtic winger Thomas Hatton has been a huge stand out today. He comes close on Seventy-six minutes. He takes on Robbie McGale, and his cross is just wide of target.

Broxburn make another double change on seventy-eight minutes. Nick Locke and Greg Page replace Marcus Lavery and Matty McDonald.

On seventy-nine minutes. Thomas Hatton’s shot is pushed away by Bob Watt.

A cross by Scott McRory Irving is half cleared as far as Alasdair Shrive. His shot is way over the bar. A free kick, taken by Greg Page is well blocked by the Celtic wall. On ninety-two minutes, a Broxburn corner is half cleared as far as Scott McCrory-Irving who heads it down to Errol Douglas. The big man at full stretch, drags his effort just wide of the right-hand post.

A draw, that in the end could have went anyway. We turn our attentions to the cup on Tuesday night against Cumbernauld Colts.

We travelled up the M9 for League duty on Saturday against University of Stirling at Forthbank Stadium.

University of Stirling are in all green kits, while Broxburn Athletic are in their traditional home kits, red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks.

Broxburn Athletic make three changes from the 2-2 draw away with Gretna 2008 on Saturday the 24th of January. In comes Bob Watt, Alasdair Shrive and Gallagher Lennon. They replace Jack McConnell, Jon Robertson and Marcus Lavery.  University of Stirling make two changes from their penalty victory over Cumbernauld United in the South Challenge Cup Quarter Final on Sunday the 1st of February. In comes Liam Trotter and Duncan Laird who replace Alex Jeanes and Sam Martin.

Broxburn are first to threaten on four minutes. The ball is worked in field to Jamie Docherty whose shot is over the bar.

University of Stirling threaten for the first time on seven minutes. A shot by Jay Burns is blocked by Alasdair Shrive for a Uni corner. The resulting corner is well defended by Broxburn, with Robbie McGale heading clear. On thirteen minutes, Uni work a short corner that is half cleared as far as Jay Burns. Burns shot is touched over by Broxburn keeper Bob Watt.

GOAL! University of Stirling open the scoring on fourteen minutes. Liam Trotter plays in Carter Jenkins who slots past Bob Watt.

On twenty-nine minutes, a Matty McDonald shot is just wide of target, on thirty-five minutes, a Robbie McGale cross finds Kyle Bell whose header is saved.

Up the other end, a deep Scott-McCrory-Irving cross finds Jamie Docherty’s header hits the post and into the hands of University of Stirling keeper Alex Sutherland.

Broxburn make a double change on seventy-four minutes. On comes, Nick Locke and Marcus Lavery who replace Gallagher Lennon and Matty McDonald.

GOAL! Greg Page plays a long ball forward from a free kick, finding Errol Douglas through on goal, Uni keeper Alex Sutherland makes a good save, and the loose ball comes out to Nick Locke, whose looped ball into the box is headed over the line by Errol Douglas! 2-2

On eighty-eight minutes, Luke Watkins drives into the Uni box. His shot deflects harmlessly into the arms of Uni keeper Sutherland.

GOAL! Uni win it in ninety-one minutes. A long ball forward bounces and Robbie McGale attempts to head back to keeper Bob Watt. Sam Martin intercepts and slots over Bob watt for the winner!

A good reaction from Broxburn In the second half. Unfortunate to lose the game at the end and will be kicking themselves with the chances missed. Next up it’s Celtic B at home.

We travelled down to the borders on Saturday, for a Lowland League away tie to Gretna 2008.

Gretna 2008 are in black and white shirts and black shorts and socks. Broxburn Athletic are in their traditional home kits. Red and White shirts with white shorts and red and white socks.

Gretna 2008 make two changes to the team that were defeated 5-0 away at Clydebank on Saturday the 27th of December. In comes Tyler Bowman and Lewis Bell who replace Stuart Douglas and Sean McKenzie. Broxburn Athletic make four changes to last weeks 4-2 Lowland League Cup victory over University of Stirling. In comes Jack McConnell, Marcus Lavery, Jon Robertson and Kyle Bell. They replace Bob Watt, Gallagher Lennon, Luke Watkins and Alasdair Shrive.

Broxburn are first to threaten on two minutes. Good play by Kyle Bell down the left wing. He finds Jamie Docherty whose shot is headered clear by Gretna defender Sam Atkinson.

Up the other end, on seven minutes Gretna’s Hayden Tait’s cross from the right is headed down by Kyan Gunn to striker Iain Anderson in Acers of space in the box. Sam Gormley makes a vital challenge for the visitors.

GOAL! Broxburn take the lead on fourteen minutes. Errol Douglas finds Jamie Docherty in a central position, and he scores low into the left corner. 1-0 Broxburn!

On twenty-one minutes, Robbie McGale plays in Errol Douglas, his shot is saved by Gretna keeper Jim Atkinson.

A deep Gretna cross by Liam Short is well held by Broxburn keeper Jack McConnell on twenty-three minutes.

GOAL! Broxburn go two goals ahead on twenty-five minutes. A long ball by Greg Page finds Errol Douglas who lays it off to Jamie Docherty twenty-five yards from goal. Doc spots the keeper out of position and finds the left corner.

On thirty-two minutes, a shot by Gretna’s Sam Atkinson is wide of target.

Errol Douglas comes close on thirty-five minutes. Jamie Docherty feeds him in Douglas who attempts to lob Gretna keeper Jim Atkinson, but it isn’t on target and Gretna clear.

Iain Anderson drives into the Broxburn box and gets his shot away but it’s well blocked by Greg Page. A minute later, Andy Oram finds Sam Atkinson in the box and his shot hits the bar. Good spell by the hosts.

On forty-one minutes, a Scott McRory-Irving shot is saved by Gretna keeper Jim Atkinson.

Half Time (2-0 Broxburn)

On fifty minutes, Kyle Bell finds Scott McRory-Irving whose shot is saved by Gretna keeper Atkinson.

We have our first booking of the match on fifty-five minutes. Gretna’s Sam Atkinson is booked for a foul on Jamie Docherty.

On fifty-seven minutes, a Robbie McGale cross is brought down by Errol Douglas who finds Kyle Bell, who fires his shot over the bar.

We have a stoppage in play as Sam Atkinson is down injured. Unfortunately, he can’t continue and is replaced by Harry Aitchison on sixty-one minutes. We wish Sam all the best and hope the injury isn’t too serious.

GOAL! Gretna have one back on seventy-three minutes. Lewis Bell plays in Iain Anderson who finds the bottom left corner.

Kyle Bell shoots wide of target on seventy-three minutes for Broxburn. On seventy-seven minutes, a cross from Jamie Docherty finds Errol Douglas whose header is saved by Atkinson.

Big chance for a Gretna equaliser on seventy-nine minutes. a cross from Haydn Tait goes right over the goalmouth and wide via a deflection.

GOAL! Gretna equalise on eighty minutes. A cross by Liam Short is cleared by Errol Douglas as far as Liam Lamonby who floats it back into the box for Andy Oram. Oram nods it onto Iain Anderson at the back post, whose initial shot is saved by Broxburn keeper Jack McConnell, but Anderson makes no mistake with the rebound and smashes it into the net. All square at Raydale Park!

Broxburn make a treble change on eighty-one minutes. On comes Alisdair Shrive, Gallagher Lennon and Nick Locke who replace Greg Page, Jon Robertson and Matty McDonald.

Broxburn make their last change on eighty-seven minutes. Luke Watkins replaces Scott McRory-Irving.

Broxburn push for a winner. On ninety minutes, a Nick Locke shot is saved by Jim Atkinson.

A tale of two half’s this game. Broxburn went in at half time disappointed not to be more than two goals up. Gretna grew into the game and could easily have won it at the end.

Broxburn Athletic are in their traditional kits. Red and White shirts, white shorts and red and white socks.  Visitors Bo’ness United are in all blue kits.

Broxburn Athletic make two changes to last weekend’s 3-0 victory away to East Stirlingshire. In comes Jamie Docherty & Gallagher Lennon who replace Marcus Lavery & Robbie Hamilton. Visitors Bo’ness United make one changes to the side that defeated Linlithgow Rose 2-1 last weekend. Jack Hodge replaces Freddie Rowe.

Broxburn should have an early lead. On two minutes, Jamie Docherty squares the ball to Scott McRory-Irving whose shot from close range is saved by Bo’ness keeper Alan Fleming.

Bo’ness United create their first chance of the match on fourteen minutes. From a free kick, which is floated in by Roan Fitzpatrick from the left is headed wide at the back post by Alisdair Davidson. On twenty minutes, Bo’ness United striker Billy Mortimer plays a good through ball for Kieran Mitchell whose shot is well blocked by Broxburn Athletic defender Gallagher Lennon.

On twenty-three minutes, a deep ball into the Bo’ness box is cleared as far as Jon Robertson whose volley is just over the bar.

GOAL! Broxburn take the lead on twenty-seven minutes. Jamie Docherty’s ball forward is laid off by Chris O Kane, to Matty McDonald who drives goalwards and slots his shot into the left corner past Bo’ness United keeper Allan Fleming.

Bo’ness United come close on thirty-four minutes. A deep cross by Jordan Armstrong finds Billy Mortimer whose header hits the post. Sam Gormley clears the loose ball.

Matty McDonald feeds Scott McRory Irving in on goal and his shot is well blocked by Bo’ness defender Alisdair Davidson.

A shot by Bo’ness United’s Adam Masson is saved by Jack McConnell on forty-two minutes.

GOAL! Bo’ness United equalise on forty-four minutes. A deep cross by Jack Hodge is chested down by Billy Mortimer for Kieran Mitchell who scores a low shot into the left corner.

Broxburn Athletic make a change at the half time break. Alisdair Shrive replaces Matty McDonald.

On fifty-four minutes, Robbie McGale’s free kick finds Jon Robertson whose header is just wide of the left-hand post.

A Bo’ness United free kick taken by Roan Fitzpatrick is headed wide by Mark McLuckie.

 GOAL! Bo’ness United take the lead on sixty-seven minutes. Kieran Mitchell finds Shaun Brown with a good through ball. Ex Broxburn winger Brown cuts inside and finds the bottom right corner. 2-1 to the visitors.

We have the first booking of the match on sixty-eight minutes. Chris O’ Kane is booked for a foul. It’s closely followed a minute later, with a yellow card shown to Greg Page for a pull-on Bo’ness forward Billy Mortimer.

Bo’ness United’s Tom Grant hits the bar on seventy minutes from a free kick. Grant was next in the referee’s book on seventy-one minutes for a pull-on Robbie McGale. On seventy-four minutes, Roan Fitzpatrick is booked for a foul on Gallagher Lennon.

Substitution Broxburn Athletic on seventy-seven minutes. Robbie Hamilton replaces Gallagher Lennon.

Errol Douglas is booked on seventy-nine minutes for a foul on Bo’ness defender Alisdair Davidson.

On eighty-three minutes, Broxburn make another change. Luke Watkins replaces Scott McRory-Irving.

Bo’ness United also make a change on eighty-seven minutes. Ryan Stevenson replaces Billy Mortimer.

Match Report- (East Stirlingshire-27/12/25)

We travelled to Larbert last Saturday in Lowland League action against East Stirlingshire.

East Stirlingshire are in black and white strips with black shorts and socks. Broxburn Athletic are in red and white strips, white shorts and red and white socks.

Broxburn Athletic make three changes to the team from last week’s 2-0 EOSFL Quarter Final victory over Whitburn. In comes Jack McConnell, Matty McDonald and Scott McRory-Irving. The replace Bob Watt, Jamie Docherty and Kyle Bell. East Stirlingshire make four changes to the 3-derby defeat to University of Stirling. In comes Lucas McRoberts, Margaro Gomis, Aodhan Taylor and Flynn McCafferty. They replace Ben Hobbs, Jamie Hislop, Trialist & Fin Malcolm.

The hosts are the first to threaten on four minutes. Flynn McCafferty drives into the box, and his shot is saved by Broxburn keeper Jack McConnell.

On seven minutes, Greg Page plays a ball down the left flank for Marcus Lavery. Marcus gets a shot at goal, but it’s easily saved by Shire keeper Jay Cantley.

East Stirlingshire make a change on ten minutes. Player/manager Callum Tapping is replaced by Fin Malcolm.

Good hold up play by Errol Douglas who nods the ball on for the onrushing Chris O’ Kane. Kano looks to be fouled but manages to find Errol Douglas with just the keeper to beat. Just as he gets to the ball, referee Denholm blows for a free kick, to the frustration of the Broxburn players, staff and supporters.  Robbie Hamilton resulting free kick was saved by Shire keeper Jay Cantley.

On twenty-nine minutes, Broxburn win back possession after East Stirlingshire saw a lot of the ball in the last fifteen minutes. Robbie Hamilton plays a good ball inside to Robbie McGale, who drives forward before feeding in Errol Douglas. Douglas takes a bad touch, and the ball goes out for a goal kick.

East Stirlingshire’s Aodhan Taylor is booked for a foul on Matty McDonald.

GOAL! Broxburn take the lead on thirty six minutes. Robbie McGale’s free kick is headed on from Errol Douglas into the path of Chris O’ Kane who scores from close range for Broxburn.

On forty-three minutes, Lucas McRoberts plays in substitute Fin Malcolm, whose shot was well saved by Broxburn keeper Jack McDowell.

Half Time (1-0 Broxburn Athletic)

A shot by Ben Lamont is easily saved by Jack McConnell on forty-eight minutes.

East Stirlingshire are pushing for an equaliser. On fifty-two minutes, a shot by Ben Lamont is pushed away by Broxburn keeper Jack McConnell, the rebound is headed over by Lucas McRoberts. McRoberts also has shot that is over the bar on fifty-five minutes.

Broxburn Athletic make their first substitution on fifty-nine minutes. Jamie Docherty replaces Robbie Hamilton. A Jamie Docherty free kick is saved by East Stirlingshire keeper Jay Cantley.

GOAL! Broxburn go 2-0 ahead on seventy-three minutes! A corner by Robbie McGale is headed home by the unmarked Jon Robertson.

On seventy-five minutes, a mix up at the back from Broxburn gifts the ball to Ben Lamont whose shot is saved by Jack McDowell.

On seventy-eight minutes, Errol Douglas is fouled in the box by and the referee points to the spot. GOAL! Up steps Errol Douglas who slams it into the left corner.

On eighty-two minutes, Shire’s Alex Walker is booked for a foul on Jamie Docherty.

On eighty-three minutes, a Broxburn corner taken by Robbie McGale is headed wide of target by Sam Gormley.

Double Broxburn substitution on eighty-four minutes. Nick Locke and Luke Watkins replace Jon Robertson and Errol Douglas.

On ninety minutes, Luke Watkins is in on goal, but he can’t get his touch right and East Stirlingshire get the ball clear. A minute later, Jamie Docherty drives into the box and his shot is saved by Shire keeper Cantley, the rebound falls just behind the onrushing Luke Watkins. Nick Locke has a shot that is also saved by Cantley.

We weren’t at our best today, but we didn’t look like conceding with the keeper and back four dealing with everything thrown at them. Huge congratulations to them all for not conceding in December, some achievement.

I wish all the supporters a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2026.

Berwick make three changes to their 3-1 victory over Bo’ness United at Newton Park. Alfie Robinson, Greg Binnie & Michael Barfoot replace Alex Harris, Mikey Mbewe & Blair Sneedon.

GOAL! It’s Broxburn who break the deadlock. Alasdair Shrive finds Matty McDonald on the left in his own half. McDonald turns Berwick’s Mark McConnel and drives towards goal; his shot deflects into the back of the net. Brilliant play by McDonald!
