In our final game of the season, we took on Tranent away at Forresters Park yesterday. 

Broxburn are in their changed gold and black kits. Tranent are in all maroon.

Broxburn make one change from last week’s 2-2 draw with Bonnyrigg Rose. In comes Alasdair Shrive for Kyle Bell. Tranent make two changes from the team that lost 3-0 to Caley Braves last weekend. In comes Sam Jones, Cammy McGinley who replace Guy McGarry and Greig Young.

Tranent start the better of the two sides.  Two corners on the bounce for the hosts are well defended by Broxburn.

On seven minutes, a Tranent corner taken by Ben Miller finds Euan Greig who heads wide of the right-hand post.

From a Tranent long throw on the left by Nick Aitchison, the ball falls in the box for Harry Girdwood whose shot is saved by Bob Watt. The rebound falls for the onrushing Sam Jones, but Marcus Lavery makes an important block.

First chance for Broxburn on fourteen minutes. Jamie Docherty’s cross aimed for Errol Douglas is well defended by Tranent’s Dean Brett who concedes the corner. The Resulting corner is well defended by Tranent.

On twenty-two minutes, Errol Douglas is booked for dissent.

GOAL! Tranent open the scoring on twenty-three minutes. A long ball forward from Nick Aitchison finds Sam Jones wide left. Jones crosses into the box and Cammy McKinley scores from close range.

A long ball forward by the Tranent keeper Kelby Mason, is over Sam Gormley. Harry Girdwood is in and his shot is right at Bob Watt.

Jamie Docherty’s cross into the box is headed wide by Errol Douglas on thirty-two minutes.

Tranent come close to a second on forty-one minutes. Cammy McKinley shot is inches wide of the post.

HALF TIME (1-0 Tranent)

A shot by Jamie Docherty comes of the post from distance on fifty seven minutes.

GOAL! Tranent add a second on fifty-nine minutes. A long ball forward by Euan Greig looks to go out of play on the left. Scott Gray doesn’t stop, drives past Sam Gormley and finding the bottom corner.

Tranent make their first substitution of the game on sixty-two minutes. Greig Young replaces Ewan Greig.

Broxburn substitution on sixty-three minutes. Kyle Bell replaces Marcus Lavery.

On sixty-three minutes, a shot by Sam Jones is tipped over the bar by Bob Watt. A cracking save by the Broxburn keeper.

Tranent make a double change on sixty-nine minutes. Greig Spence and Josh O’ Connor replace Cammy McKinley and Harry Girdwood.

Broxburn make their last change on seventy-eight minutes. Greg Page replaces Jon Robertson.

On eighty-two minutes, a shot by Errol Douglas is saved by Kelby Mason. Two minutes later, Great play by Kyle Bell who drives forward from midfield. He plays in Errol Douglas who is flagged offside. A Shot from Matty McDonald is saved by Kelby Mason, the rebound is wide by Kane Thomson on eighty-seven minutes.

GOAL! Tranent add a third in injury time. From a Dean Brett corner, Josh Grigor header smacks the bar, and it goes over the line.

We end season 2025/26 with a defeat at Forrester Park. Had a few spells in the game where we looked comfortable in possession. But Tranent took their chances when they came.

As we reach the end of the season, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support with the weekly match reports—it’s been greatly appreciated. A special Thanks to those who help on matchdays, making sure I get all the information needed for team sheets and everything that goes with it. I’m also very grateful to the manager, his coaches, and the players for allowing me to be part of the team throughout the season. Thanks as well to the committee and all the helpers at the club for everything you do behind the scenes. I’m already looking forward to getting going again next season in the new league format.
